Can you even believe Christmas is only 5 days away? I’m excited and a little nervous because Santa has his work cut out for him. My boys are strong believers and I love all that magic that comes with it.
This year to keep things more about the magic than the crazy food prep, Naomi and I are keeping the menu simple. We are trading in the potpourri of hot appetizers for things we can prepare ahead of a time, like this cheese board – Something that takes about ten minutes to put together and always makes an impressive statement.
There are no hard, fast rules to what goes on a cheese board, but for my own taste I like a mixture of flavors and texture. Whatever I go for there are a few things that always make it on my board. Things like a creamy cheese, a funky blue cheese, and fruit. The fruit gives the needed acidity and sweetness to balance the meats and cheeses. Along with that, you need a good beverage–something light and preferably bubbly, something like a sparkling reisling or a dry rose.
- Boursin Cheese
- Stilton Cheese
- sliced pears
- dried apricots
- dried nuts
- variety of crackers
- Group, layer and arrange each ingredient in piles.
Now that you have the know-how, do it!
