It’s Fri-yay, with a lot of things to celebrate, to start, these pizza bombs. Perfect little bites for your Super Bowl Party, or any-day party—better yet, let’s just agree that these are good for any occasion.
They are, of course, kid approved, so this pretty much means eat alone unless you are generous and a sucker like me. Because no matter how I portion food, my boys, if they love it, are going to attack my plate with their grabby hands and pleading eyes. If you are a parent, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Onto other good things this Friday . . . take a look around the blog. It got a facelift from Sarah and finally feels like home around here. Poke around and let me know what you think!
Alright back to the food. These pizza bombs, if you can believe it, the golden crisp shell you see is made with sliced bread. Yep, it’s Dave’s Killer Bread, White Bread Done Right. How fun is that?
Pizza Bombs
Ingredients
Instructions
10 slices of Dave’s Killer Bread White Bread Done Right, crusts removed
Take each piece of bread and smash it flat. Place 2 slices of pepperoni in the center of the bread layer with 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese. Pull corners to the center, pinch edges together. Use your fingers or a brush and seal seam with egg. Place assembled pizza bomb seam side down. Repeat assembling, until all the pizza bombs are assembled.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until a thermometer reads 350 degrees. Set a wire rack in a rimmed baking sheet.
Working in batches, drop pizza bombs into oil. Cook, turning once, until browned and puffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to rack with a slotted spoon. Let cool slightly. Serve warm with pizza sauce
