Road Trip Snacks

This post has been sponsored by barkTHINS. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When you are a first time parent to kids who do school, you fret about the summers. It’s easy for kids to get bored and when you work from home, it can make summers even more challenging.

But after a few summers, I’ve learned to: prep where I can (get work done months in advance), work with the constant chatter of kids, the front door closing and opening non-stop as they and their friends pass through, take real lunches – that means make it and actually shut down to eat lunch with the kids, and most importantly – I’ve learned how to keep the house stocked with snacks, so they aren’t coming to me every few minutes asking me to make them something eat!

Snacks like barkTHINS are good for any occasion — I love that they’re made with Fair Trade dark chocolate and Non-GMO add-ins, I feel good sharing them with my kids. Have you had them? On our trips, they are an “Absobarkinlutely” must-have!

BarkTHINS are offered in 9 different varieties, so I like to surprise my boys by making a grab-bag that’s a mix of our current favorites of the one’s you see below:

  • Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt (Naomi’s favorite)
  • Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt
  • Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut and Almond (my current favorite)
  • Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Seed with Sea Salt
  • Dark Chocolate Blueberry with Quinoa Crunch
  • Dark Chocolate Peanut with Sea Salt
  • Dark Chocolate Mint

The grab bags are my secret weapon on road trips, it keeps the kids from fighting over flavors and they make a game out of it by trying to guess which flavor is what.

And since we are big into hiking during road trips, barkTHINS is our top choice for adventuring. A few weeks ago, we did a mini road trip to San Francisco and further up Northern California. We stopped by a national park to stretch our legs, do a little hike and of course to refuel our bodies with a little barkTHINS.

I’d love to know what how you would work barkTHINS into your whenever, why-ever snack. Let me know in the comment section below.
