Picnic In the Living Room

This is what happens when Naomi is off for the night. By off, I mean no kids, no work and no husband. Can you see where this is going?

Let me explain – we call it campout. What it really means is, we turn off the house rules and pretend we are camping – kinda. By kinda I mean we skip the dinner table for a blanket on the living room floor and we watch movies or cartoons. Now do you see what I mean by the kinda?  Cole called it that once, and it just stuck and now they ask for “campout” more often then Naomi can actually getaway.

But when she does we love it. The boys and I get in the kitchen and grab for an easy dinner. But not just any easy dinner. We do Stouffer’s Lasagna with Meat & Sauce. It’s been a favorite of Cole’s since he was three. Nowadays he is the one that pops it in the oven and when it comes out he declares, “I made dinner”.

Works for me. And why shouldn’t it? Stouffer’s lasagna is freshly made, simply frozen. The pasta is hand layered, and the meat sauce has no artificial colors or flavors and no high fructose corn syrup. To top it off it’s drenched with real mozzarella and aged Parmesan. Of course my cheese-loving Cole always adds more to it along with some basil and then he just calls it his own.

Who am I to say otherwise?

Now this is the way to do dinner when mom has the night off – on the floor watching a movie with paper and plastic. No dishes! Yay to that—less time cleaning and more time playing!
